The Employment Rights Bill and how you can plan ahead
Description
The Employment Rights Bill 2024 is set to reshape UK workplace practices and employment legislation. For solicitors and legal professionals, understanding the implications of the Bill is vital, not only to ensure compliance within your own firm but also for clients too, who may require guidance on navigating the changes.
This essential whistlestop tour, led by Victoria Regan from Loch Associates Group, will explore the key proposed reforms and latest developments and the impact that these will have on business owners. Whilst the Bill may be subject to further amendments, and it is unlikely that any changes will come into force before Autumn 2026 at the very earliest, proactive preparation is key. Victoria will be considering the practical steps that employers should be taking now in order to ensure compliance and to mitigate risk.
Key takeaways include:
- An overview of the key reforms: ‘Day 1’ rights, family friendly rights and flexible work requests, zero-hours contract protections, abolition of fire and rehire, statutory sick pay, employment tribunal time limits and enforcement.
- How this will impact businesses and what steps can be taken to prepare for the changes.
- A review of any further key amendments to date, throughout this process, as well as an overview of the topics that are now not being covered.
